Fragmenta Philosophorum Graecorum

''Fragmenta Philosophorum Graecorum'' (''FPG'') is a three-volume collection of fragments of ancient Greek philosophers. It was edited by the German scholar, Friedrich Wilhelm August Mullach, and published in Paris by the Didot family between 1860 and 1881. ''FPG'' was the first general collection of fragments of Presocratic philosophy, but also included later material including that of Cleanthes. The volumes contain the original Greek texts with Latin translations and commentary also in Latin.〔Curd and Graham, "Introduction" in ''The Oxford Handbook of Presocratic Philosophy'' (Oxford University Press, 2008), p. 15.〕
The ''FPG's'' influence can be seen in the work of Friedrich Nietzsche, who used it as a source for his own work on Presocratic philosophers.〔Whitlock, Greg (ed., trans.), "Introduction" in Nietzsche, ''The Pre-Platonic Philosophers'' (University of Illinois Press, 2001), p. 216.〕 It has since become known for its shortfalls.〔Tarán, Leonardo, ''Speusippus of Athens: A Critical Study With a Collection of the Related Texts and Commentary'' (Brill Publishers, 1981), p. xxi.〕 ''FPG'' was replaced by ''Die Fragmente der Vorsokratiker'', also known as "Diels-Kranz" after its editors.〔Sandywell, Barry, ''Dictionary of Visual Discourse: A Dialectical Lexicon of Terms'' (Ashgate Publishing, 2011), p. 95.〕
